Running as Republican
I believe my positions are simply common sense, but sometimes it feels like that’s in short supply in Concord.
I escaped from the Soviet Union with $140 in my pocket in search of the American Dream. In 1995, I proudly became a United States citizen. Through hard work and determination, I was able to build a family, a career, and a home here in New Hampshire.
I’ve always admired how many Granite Staters embody the traditional American values of hard work, personal responsibility, faith, and a respect for friends and neighbors.
My wife Marika and I raised our two children Max and Mariam here, and worked hard to instill those same values in them.
As I hear from more and more people around the district, I know that you don’t need to be an escapee of the Soviet Union to be concerned about where our state and our nation are headed.
Runaway inflation, a struggling economy, soaring energy costs, and shortages at the stores have average Granite Staters worried about the future. Sadly, Democrat politicians don’t have a plan for any of it.
During my two terms in the State House, I’ve built a reputation as a strong friend of freedom and an enemy of waste, fraud, and abuse. I passed bills to strengthen election integrity. I delivered a balanced state budget that cut taxes on small businesses and provided a record surplus. I passed legislation that strengthened and defended your 2nd Amendment rights.
America needs men and women who will lead during this time of crisis. And as I’ve proven so far during my time in the State House, that’s just what I’ll do in the State Senate.
I am committed to putting America, New Hampshire, and the people of State Senate District 16 first!
I can’t let this country become like the country I left. We must ensure our children and grandchildren are able to achieve the American Dream. This wonderful nation has given me so much. I feel compelled to return the favor. I will fight every day to ensure the American Dream doesn’t die! I am determined to leave things better than we found them.
Together we will work to ensure an economy that works for the people. We will fight to have low taxes across the board, protect our New Hampshire Advantage, push back against President Biden’s radical socialist agenda, protect all of our rights including the First and Second Amendment, and ensure educational choice for all children.

If elected or re-elected, please describe legislation you expect to sponsor or co-sponsor.
I’ve sponsored legislation that protects the First Amendment, strengthened the Second Amendment, reduces taxes on small businesses, improves health care, cuts crimes, and protects the integrity of our elections. I’m thankful that much of my legislation was signed into law. However, there is still more to do! We must reduce inflation, protect New Hampshire from the economic recession, continue to make sure parents have options for their children, and improve health care.
What are the most important concerns you’ve heard from Manchester residents and how can you address those concerns if elected or re-elected?
Voters have many concerns, but massive inflation and the economic recession are key issues. While it is true that the federal government caused these two problems, and the federal government is best equipped to solve the issues, there are multiple things we can do on the state level. We can offer property tax owners and business owners relief by cutting their taxes. We can and should cut taxes on energy, including at least temporarily, gasoline. We must reduce and streamline regulations so that it is easier for families to start small businesses. We must protect the New Hampshire Advantage so that federally created problems hurt the people of the Granite State less than people in other states. This will allow our residents to better weather the storm.
New Hampshire legislators are citizen legislators and being a legislator is a significant time commitment. How much time per week can you spend on legislative duties while the Senate/House is in Session?
New Hampshire and the United States have given me so much over the years. I love America and am so glad I was able to achieve the American Dream. I enjoy giving back by volunteering as a State Representative and serving on a local town committee. I feel compelled to return the favor, and protect America for future generations. I’m proud to step up and give as much time as necessary to help the good people of the Granite State.
How do you feel the current divisive political climate in the United States will impact the New Hampshire General Court over the next two years and how would you navigate that divisiveness in your Duties?
Not only is the federal government creating inflation hurting Granite Staters, but President Biden’s federal government is needless meddling with New Hampshire residents. We must pass legislation to reduce the harm caused to New Hampshire families, consumers, businesses, and children.
What is the most significant issue facing Manchester residents at the municipal level and how can you, as a legislator aid the city government on that issue?
Manchester has an issue with crime, but the issue isn’t limited to just Manchester. Voters are concerned about crime, bail reform, and homelessness. We need to get all sides together and come up with bail reform solutions that will help the people of Manchester.
In your conversations with voters, what is the most significant issue to them right now? How would you address that if elected or re-elected?
Voters have many concerns, but massive inflation and the economic recession are key issues. While it is true that the federal government caused these two problems, and the federal government is best equipped to solve the issues, there are multiple things we can do on the state level. We can offer property tax owners and business owners relief by cutting their taxes. We can and should cut taxes on energy, including at least temporarily, gasoline. In your opinion, what were the five most significant pieces of legislation introduced over the last two years? Please explain what made them significant.
There were dozens of important bills, but the state budget was the most important piece of legislation. There was lots of negotiating around the state budget. Lots of New Hampshire Republicans were concerned about the budget. I reached out to dozens of Republican legislators, and talked them into passing the budget. The budget sent lots of additional money to schools, towns, and cities. The budget created protections for students and parents with a ban on CRT. It cut property taxes, small business taxes, and started the process to eliminate taxes on interest. Not only was the budget balanced, but it created a record surplus. That’s key because the United States is experiencing a recession.
I authored and passed bills HB 1174, HB 1457, HB 1527, and HB 1467 this year to help secure our elections. These bills add line of sight, chain of custody for ballots, vote keeping, and recount protections to New Hampshire law. With your help, I can pass even stronger election integrity reforms in the New Hampshire Senate!
