If elected or re-elected, please describe legislation you expect to sponsor or co-sponsor.
- Supporting public schools and affordable higher education
- Affordable housing
- Protecting reproductive freedom
- Voters rights and fair & free elections
- Bail reform
What are the most important concerns you’ve heard from Manchester residents and how can you address those concerns if elected or re-elected?
Bail reform has been mentioned to me numerous times. I supported HB 1476 -this bill attempted to change the way a defendant is released pending a trial. I will continue to work on this when re-elected.
New Hampshire legislators are citizen legislators and being a legislator is a significant time commitment. How much time per week can you spend on legislative duties while the Senate/House is in session?
This depends on the amount of bills that are on your committee or bills which you have sponsored or co-sponsored. Also depends on the time of year when we meet for House Sessions.
How do you feel the current divisive political climate in the United States will impact the New Hampshire General Court over the next two years and how would you navigate that divisiveness in your duties?
It’s the Year of the Woman.
What is the most significant issue facing Manchester residents at the municipal level and how can you, as a legislator aid the city government on that issue?
Bail Reform – having a system to detain repeat offenders until they have been seen by a judge.
In your conversations with voters, what is the most significant issue to them right now? How would you address that if elected or re-elected?
Women’s health and reproductive freedom.
In your opinion, what were the five most significant pieces of legislation introduced over the last two years? Please explain what made them significant.
- HB 103-FN established a dental benefit under the NH State Medicaid program – this bill ensures dental care for routine preventive care and treatment for indigent people of NH
- CACR 32 – This was an amendment to the State Constitution to have the State of New Hampshire secede from the United States of America. 13 NH GOP State Representatives voted in favor of CACR 32.
- HB 1178 – this NH Republican house bill gives an easier accessibility to high-capacity semi-automatic assault rifles. With all the deadly school / public venue etc shootings this is one wrong step for NH. Instead we should be supporting responsible gun ownership.
- SB 61 – this Right to Work bill was KILLED on the House Floor – this terrible bill was an anti-union bill. RTW causes the government to interfere with the bargaining between employers and employee unions.
- HB 20 / SB 130 was snuck into HB 2 – this is what the GOP is calling “Education Freedom Accounts” also known as School Voucher Program. This bill takes our taxpayer funds to pay for private & religious schools. This has cost the taxpayers $8 million this year and could grow to $70 million by the year’s end.
