Why are you running?
I am running for Alderman to be a conservative leader for the citizens of Ward 6.
What uniquely qualifies you to be an Alderman?
I see the problems and issues the city of Manchester currently has and I want to be involved in the future representing the needs of the district. I believe actions speak louder than words and this community needs leadership.
What do you see as the main function of an Alderman?
Represent a division of that municipality’s citizens, planning, and community development.
What do you see as the key solution to reducing homelessness in the city?
Evaluate the effectiveness of the current programs.
Identify and measure the risk for homelessness among Veterans. I like Victoria Sullivan’s plan on homelessness. We both agree on the city of Nashua’s successful efforts.
Do you feel that Manchester needs more affordable housing as defined by US HUD and NHHFA (costing no more than 30% of occupants' monthly income)? If so, how would you achieve this? If not, why not?
I do feel that Manchester needs more affordable housing and I think the percentages should be around 25%, not 30%. But the percentages are based on what – single parent or a family situation?
The city should focus on affordable housing and good-paying jobs to counter that and give people a reason to choose Manchester. I rented a few apartments on my path to homeownership and a good local paying job was the reason I stayed here.
What are your thoughts on public safety in the city?
My public safety concerns;
Traffic Safety
- The excessive speed, failure to stop at red lights and failure to stop at intersections is getting old. I am also not on board with the “defund the police” and we need to stop the disrespect now.
- It seems the city could use more than 3 traffic officers
Our parks are no longer the beautiful sights they once were. We need simply to understand regulations in place that prohibit aggressive panhandling and homeless camps. Anti-panhandling signs sparked controversy back in 2017 warning people not to give them money it could lead to fatality, donate to the charities listed. The signs are ignored – why is this still a problem today?
What are the strengths and weaknesses of the Manchester School District? What is the top need for improvement or change?
The resignation of New Hampshire School District Official Daniel Concannon is a warning signal we need to address. While I am not interested in co-parenting and making personal decisions for someone’s children, anti-white propaganda and critical race theory is the wrong thing to be teaching the kids. I stand with Richard Girard in our “Right To Know” Mayor Craig’s and the School Board’s “Whiteness” training school assignments.
Schools should be teaching kids how to read, write, mathematics, the world of science, and helping students learn and practice healthy attitudes and behavior, such as respect, honesty and kindness.
Do you support the budgetary autonomy of the Manchester School District's governing body? (currently known as the Board of School Committee, but proposed to be renamed as the Manchester School Board). If so, why (or why not?)
The drawbacks are predictable, autonomous entities are not necessarily less prone to capture by powerful interests.
What is the greatest strength of your ward and what needs improvement? For at-large candidates, what is the greatest strength of the city as a whole and what is in need of improvement?
Strengthen the violations for graffiti, littering and dumping.
